Expenses Documentation
Everything you need to know about setting up and using Expenses — your personal financial health tracker.
lightbulb Key Concepts
Financial Capacity
The core number Expenses tracks. Your income minus all fixed obligations (commitments + debts) equals what you can actually spend. This number updates in real time as you log transactions throughout your income cycle.
Income Cycle
Expenses works around your salary cycle, not the calendar month. Set your income date and all calculations — capacity, health score, budget resets — align to that cycle. If you get paid on the 25th, your cycle runs 25th to 24th, not 1st to 31st.
Structured Transactions
Some transactions are linked to features — debt payments, savings contributions, lent money repayments. These update balances on both sides automatically and cannot be deleted the same way as regular transactions. They preserve the integrity of those linked records.
Financial Health Score
A 0–100 score combining DSR (debt service ratio), savings rate, and capacity utilisation. Updated each time you log income. A score above 80 is excellent; below 50 is a warning zone.
menu Navigation Guide
Expenses uses five bottom tabs to organise everything:
- home Home — Your dashboard. Overview of financial capacity, health score, recent transactions, and quick links.
- receipt_long Transactions — Every transaction you have logged, filterable by account, category, and date range.
- account_balance_wallet Accounts — Balances per account (cash, bank, e-wallet) and your combined net worth.
- analytics Reports — Charts and trends: spending by category, income vs. expense over time, and health score history.
- settings Settings — Preferences, Finance Tools (commitments, debts, savings goals, budgets), and backup controls.
